Have food processor, will make Italian food?

I am the proud owner of a 7-cup food processor.

That’s not a sentence I ever expected to write. But, as I’ve described on this blog, cooking has become a hobby (borderline obsession?) of mine in the past year and a half.

Last year, Andrew and I were so serious about earning free pots and pans from our local grocery store that we searched through the trash for lost redemption stickers. When newly engaged, some girls immediately scour the web for wedding decor and the perfect shoes. I researched kitchen supplies (paring knives, anyone?) and quickly added them to our registry. And then, the woman who once bought me a magnet that declares “She loves not cooking” (thanks, Mom), realized how much I’d transformed and surprised me with a food processor for Christmas.

Now that I’ve got the goods, it’s time to deliver.

I’ve already used the food processor to slice potatoes and chop onions for Tortilla Espanol. And I’ve used it to make a fantastic homemade hummus that ensures I’ll never go store-bought again. But what about Italian food?

My plan is to try the Cuisinart cookbook’s recipes for pesto and pizza dough. I’m wondering what other Italian delicacies I can whip up now that I’ve got such a handy gadget.

Any ideas?
